The quick summary is – think about what you are doing and why and if it makes sense.  Always remind your self of the airline and the seatbelt. Airlines used to cross all the seatbelts so when passengers come onboard it looks tidy.  However this is a futile attempt. As once the first few passengers board its a mess, and the rest dont see the benefit of the crossed belts. How much lost time is spent by the staff crossing 250 seat belts?  Time that could be spent preping the plane and getting it boarding ready.
