We all use agencies to get things that we don’t have the time, energy, or just capabilities to deal with.  However we have to be careful of how we use them.

Having an agency running your social media and digital channels is detrimental to your brand.  They are not going to be as involved, passionate, and immersed into your brand culture; you are one of many the account manager is running, and there is copy and pasting.

You wouldn’t let a random company run your physical store, so why would you let someone run your digital store?

The brand should run the online communities; social, or eCom.  

Same with social media; except here we have a platform where the brand’s personality lives and comes out to play with the consumer.  The personality is something only the brand can foster, not a hired gun.
